On behalf of our Tanzania based client, we are looking for a competent and experienced Country Representative

Location: Dodoma or Dar Es Salaam

Reports to: Chief Operating Officer

Role Purpose:

The Country Representative will be a dynamic and self-motivated individual responsible for establishing and leading DelAgua’s operations in Tanzania, reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer. The successful candidate will have a demonstrable track record of engaging with government bodies and regulatory authorities to secure the necessary approvals to establish and operationalise a new country programme.

The Country Representative will take on the role of DelAgua’s primary in-country official, requiring strong public speaking ability, well-developed networking skills, and the capacity to build and maintain relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including: government officials, community leaders, and partner organisations.

In addition to their external-facing responsibilities, the Country Representative will provide overall leadership and management of all in-country operations, encompassing recruitment and team development, budget oversight, operational planning, and timely reporting. This employee will work in close collaboration with the Chief Operating Officer to ensure alignment with DelAgua’s global standards and strategic objectives.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee all in-country programme operations, including coordinating the implementation of DelAgua’s partnerships with the Government of Tanzania, primarily with the Ministry of Energy and any other relevant government bodies.
  • Identify, develop and manage additional partnerships, including public-private and B2B arrangements, whilst strengthening relationships with local government bodies to generate continued support for the transportation and distribution of improved cookstoves (ICS).
  • Lead the design and implementation of ICS distribution plans, ensuring efficient, and effective delivery to target communities across Tanzania.
  • Lead the planning, recruitment and training of field workers responsible for community education and cookstove distribution, with particular emphasis on accurate and efficient data submission via DelAgua’s smartphone platform.
  • Manage and develop the performance of all DelAgua staff based in Tanzania, setting clear objectives, providing direction and support, and establishing a structured and timely feedback and performance review system.
  • Supervise Programme Coordinators in the development and execution of activity timelines, ensuring all responsibilities are delivered within agreed timescales.
  • Provide all necessary support to maximize the generation of carbon credits, including Certified Emission Reductions (CERs), Verified Emission Reductions (VERs) and any other applicable credit types.
  • Collaborate with the Communications Director to contribute to the brand communications plan and develop DelAgua’s profile among key stakeholders in Tanzania.
  • Support DelAgua in accessing climate change and project development finance opportunities.
  • Support DelAgua in achieving and maintaining Gold Standard and/or Verra verification for the programme.
  • Assist in the successful completion of climate audits to ratify carbon credit production.
  • Oversee the delivery of nationwide Kitchen Performance Testing (KPT) in accordance with programme requirements.
  • Undertake any other duties as and when reasonably required by the Company.

MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications / Experience:

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a senior management role.
  • Exceptional verbal and written presentation skills in English and Swahili, with the ability to present complex programme information clearly to a range of stakeholders.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and manage competing priorities as part of a wider team.
  • Proven experience engaging with local and national government authorities and regulatory bodies.
  • Proven ability to deliver accurate work to strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple work streams simultaneously without compromising quality or accuracy.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify operational challenges and implement effective solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience managing and developing a team.
