On behalf of SPIRO, we are looking for a competent, skilled and experienced electrician to work in Western, Eastern, Northern and Central Uganda.

Reports to: Electrical head.

Job purpose:

The Electrician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and testing electrical systems and equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation. The role focuses on electrical infrastructure, power distribution systems, lighting, control systems, and compliance with applicable safety regulations and standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Install, inspect, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, circuits, panels, switches, outlets, lighting systems, and associated electrical equipment.
  • Diagnose electrical faults and perform corrective actions to minimize downtime.
  • Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on electrical systems.
  • Test electrical systems and components using appropriate testing instruments.
  • Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with electrical codes, regulations, and company safety procedures.
  • Install and maintain electrical control systems and related components.
  • Monitor the condition and performance of electrical equipment and recommend improvements where necessary.
  • Respond promptly to electrical breakdowns and emergency maintenance requests.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspection reports, and work documentation.
  • Support energy efficiency initiatives and electrical system upgrades.
  • Coordinate with contractors and service providers during electrical projects and maintenance activities.
  • Ensure all work areas are kept clean, organized, and safe.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS.

  • Minimum of a Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
  • Additional electrical safety certifications will be advantageous.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in electrical maintenance, installation, or facility operations.
  • Experience in industrial or manufacturing environments preferred.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, power distribution, and control circuits.
  • Proficiency in using electrical testing and diagnostic equipment. Understanding electrical safety standards and regulations.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively.
  • Basic computer literacy for reporting and maintenance record keeping.
