Position Title: Senior Portfolio Quality Management Officer
Reports To: Manager Portfolio Quality Management
Department: Portfolio Quality Management
Location: Head Office
Job Purpose:
To under take risk prevention initiatives for the assigned business portfolio to ensure that the Bank’s delinquent portfolio is kept at the barest minimum through rigorous monitoring and debt remediation for proactive and effective risk prevention.
Key Responsibilities:
- Undertake risk prevention initiatives that enable optimal course of action for early detection of distress signals and proactive debt remediation.
- Analyse individual credits under stress and make appropriate recommendations to mitigate the re-occurrence of loan default cases.
- Identify and track non-performing loans and analyse the given portfolio to provide reports: loans to be downgraded, unpaid instalments, unauthorized debit balances.
- In liaison with appropriate stakeholders, review any distress signals or defaults, and initiate remedial action and undertake negotiations with customer to attain corrective measures.
- Coordinate the execution of letters and other documents regarding arrears.
- Use innovative means including analysis of customers’ files and external sources to locate and engage evasive defaulting customers.
- Analyse financial statements, review cash flows and other information on delinquent borrowers in order to prepare concrete work-out proposals for the relevant committee.
- Analyse and provide downgrade recommendations on NPL’s to the appropriate committee.
- Recommend to the credit risk committee the extension, restructuring or refinancing of facilities.
- Monitor lists of blacklisted borrowers for avoidance.
- Any other duties assigned by management from time-to-time.

- % of Audit/Risk/Compliance issues outstanding for > 3 months
- SME & Corporate Downgrades to NPA – as %age of SME & Corporate Total Portfolio
- Number of clients under Quarterly Cash Flow Anaylsis (%age of SME & Corporate)
- % of borrowing clients respecting credit covenants under SME & Corporate
- Ensure SME & Corporate PAR + 30 days Inc of NPA at 5%
- Client/Employer Visits/Engagment – (%age of visits/engagements for the SME portfolio)
- Performance of SME & Corporate Restructured Portfolio-100% on schedule(total on schedule/total portfolio)
- Audit/Risk/Compliance issue resolution rate
- Collect usage rate
- Trainings Delivered to other Departments
- Service index of your department/unit
Required Qualifications and Skills:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Banking or related field.
- Professional Certifications: ACCA, CFA or in a related field is recommended.
- Experience: Minimum of 4 years’ experience in financial credit and business.
- Good knowledge of the Bank’s policies, processes and procedures relating to credit.
- Good understanding and interpretation of industrial and national economic trends.
- Good knowledge of the relevant legal and regulatory frame including the Financial Institutions Act, the Mortgage ACT, the Central Bank Lending Guidelines, the Financial Consumer Protection Guidelines etc.
- Good knowledge of the bank’s credit ICT’s including the core banking system (IGOR), Credit Quest, MIS etc.
- Good knowledge of MS. Suite especially MS Excel.
