Role Purpose

The Project Manager will be responsible for planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating projects to ensure timely delivery, quality outcomes, and alignment with organizational goals. The role requires strong leadership, coordination, and stakeholder engagement skills to manage multi-sectoral projects in humanitarian and development contexts.

Key Responsibilities

Project Planning & Implementation

  • Lead the design, planning, and execution of project activities in line with donor requirements and organizational strategy.
  • Develop detailed work plans, budgets, and timelines for project delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with donor regulations, organizational policies, and local laws.

Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting

  • Establish and oversee project monitoring frameworks, indicators, and data collection systems.
  • Prepare high-quality progress reports, donor reports, and internal updates.
  • Conduct regular project reviews and evaluations to measure impact and identify lessons learned.

Financial & Resource Management

  • Manage project budgets, ensuring cost-effectiveness and accountability.
  • Oversee procurement and logistics related to project implementation.
  • Ensure proper documentation and financial reporting in collaboration with the finance team.

Team Leadership & Capacity Building

  • Supervise and mentor project staff, providing guidance and performance feedback.
  • Facilitate training and capacity-building initiatives for staff and community stakeholders.
  • Promote teamwork, collaboration, and a positive working environment.

Stakeholder Engagement & Representation

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with donors, government agencies, community leaders, and partner organizations.
  • Represent the organization in coordination meetings, workshops, and external forums.
  • Advocate for project goals and ensure alignment with community needs.

Risk Management & Compliance

  • Identify and mitigate risks that may affect project delivery.
  • Ensure adherence to safeguarding, gender, and inclusion policies.
  • Uphold accountability standards and ethical practices in all project activities.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Development Studies, Public Administration, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Minimum 5 years of experience managing projects in the NGO/humanitarian sector.
  • Proven experience in donor-funded project management (e.g., USAID, EU, UN agencies).
  • Strong knowledge of project cycle management (PCM), monitoring & evaluation (M&E), and financial management.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken); knowledge of local languages is an asset.
