On behalf of our client, Literacy and Adult Basic Education, we are looking for a competent, skilled, and experienced Monitoring & Evaluation Assistant to work in West Nile & Northern Uganda.

Literacy and Adult Basic Education (LABE), founded in 1989, is an indigenous NGO in Uganda with registration number MIA.NB/2004/10/1197. LABE is governed by a BOD of Directors that represent government, Commissions, higher institutions of learning, private sector and district-level partner organizations. Those who engage with LABE subscribe to the beliefs and basic principles that: Literacy, as a continuously evolving concept, is a basic human right – the foundation to learning and a more just society; Lack of reading and writing, particularly among women and girls, is unacceptable in the 21st century; Families, communities and local organizations have capacities, assets and resources which can be used to radically improve their education for wider development.

Our mission is to promote literacy practices, increase access and utilization of information, particularly amongst women and children in local communities, to effectively demand and protect their individual and wider rights.

Duties and Responsibilities for the role

  • Collect monitoring data from HLCs and other project data points.
  • Support field project staff to engage in continuous data collection, data quality improvement and support project staffs to frequently use data for project improvement.
  • Assist project staffs during survey planning and implementation especially preparing logistics needed, participating in data collection, data cleaning analysis and report writing.
  • Support MEL officer and other project staff in the compilation of Quarterly, Bi-annual, and annual reports through provision of timely accurate and updated data.
  • Participate in regular data verification and audit exercises to assess the quality of data reported and address any anomalies identified.
  • Provide accurate information that informs the project review meetings.
  • Regularly update to the project
  • Support the recording of feedback, analysis and accessibility of feedback data for project decision making
  • Track project M & E plan and frequently provide the project with trend analysis of tracked indicators while identifying the outliers.
  • Provide regular feedback to the MEL officer on project implementation.
  • Provide the project staffs with monthly reports on performance against indicators and trends.
  • Assist in preparation of donor project reports.
  • Assist with any duties as requested by the direct supervisor

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • The applicant must hold a bachelor’s degree in statistics, social sciences, economics or related field;
  • Computer literate in MS Word, Excel, internet, power point, etc.
  • Minimum 2 years field experience in project monitoring, majorly including: data collection.
  • Practical experience in data analysis software, data collection and management tools such as SPSS, Excel, Access and electronic data collection tools such as ODK, Kobo tool.
  • Experience in data analysis, trend analysis and interpretations.
  • Proven experience of developing data collection tools
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks; proven self-initiative and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proven track record of quality performance in highly pressured and remote
  • Strong facilitation skills, and strong understanding of how to safely and accurately collect feedback from all members of a community regardless of their age, gender, or other diversity factors
  • Age: Not older than 35years
