Purpose of Role
As an organisation, ekaterra is conscious of the challenges that affect the modern-day society and specifically mental health & wellbeing, personal or work-related challenges that are faced by the employees and their dependants. Our intention is therefore to bring on board an EAP counsellor who would be mandated to support with the counselling needs that come through the EAP line.
Qualifications & Experience Required
eTR is looking for a professional counsellor or social worker with long-standing record/experience in counselling with following:
a) Strong background in Social Sciences with at least a bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Counselling, etc.
b) Demonstrated experience in counselling especially SGBV related issues
c) Previous experience in counselling employees in any institution will be an added advantage
d) Good analytical and writing skills.
Ability to work effectively and communicate clearly through email, phone, and in meetings
Accountabilities
Counselling & Psycho social Support
• Link between the employees, dependents, and eTR providing professional, objective/confidential response, ensuring consistent availability, promptly responding to incoming counselling calls on the line.
• Provide psychosocial support to clients who call the line presenting counselling needs in marital, family, financial, legal and matters concerning SGBV.
• In liaison with the Welfare Manager, and welfare officer, facilitate the referral of clients who may require further face-to-face counselling beyond what is offered via the EAP line
• Work collaboratively with the Welfare Officer and Nyaruguru Hospital in the formation and running of support groups on alcohol rehabilitation, mental health cases, SGBV among others
• Provide comprehensive case management and referrals to specialised services such as substance abuse treatment, psychiatry, and ongoing psychotherapy
• Providing crisis assessment and intervention services related to harm to self or others, both on the telephone and in person at client organizations
• Complete and maintain all required paperwork, records, and documents related to the support provided • Provide monthly reports, trends, and key thematic issues that are presented by the clients supported
Male Engagement Support
• Actively participate in the conceptualization and development of the male engagement work plan and activities to address mental health engagements such as the He4Them program, SGBV campaign etc.
• Effectively drive and implement assigned male-oriented activities under the SGBV program.
• Build a pool of male champions and mentors to deliver mentorship to men on role modelling addressing the dynamic social issues and challenges affecting men and boys. This will include but is not limited to SGBV, mental health, alcohol, drugs, and substance abuse among others.
• Raise awareness on available counselling support platforms including the EAP Receive and escalate grievances that may be raised by the clients in confidence to the Welfare Manager who is a member of eTR BI Committee Expected Outputs
• Provide a monthly report on the counselling with insights to help the business plan on proactive interventions.
• Participate in male engagement activities undertaken in line with the work plan agreed upon. • Represent the voice of the male employees, minority groups and dependants in company meetings
• Any other reports as instructed by the business or the country General manager .

• As per job/site requirements, local travel likely.
