On behalf of our client, Lancet Laboratories Ltd, we are looking for a competent, skilled, and experienced Pathologist-In – Charge to work in Kampala.

Job Summary:

To plan, direct and manage staff, material and financial resources to enable the provision of safe, cost effective, quality and professional medical pathology services in area of speciality.

Key Responsibilities

The job holder will be responsible for the following tasks.

2) Laboratories

  • Conducts strategic and annual planning and provides direction on technical and laboratory administrative functions in alignment with the Cerba Lancet Africa Strategic themes.
  • Manages profitability of Laboratories through expense control and customer relationship management.
  • Actively promotes the Cerba Lancet Africa brand through professional presentation and high levels of customer service.
  • Oversees adherence to professional conduct requirements in line with organisational policy and relevant professional body ethical Standards.
  • Oversees quality standards and lean processes in accordance with the principles of Good Laboratory Practice, accreditation requirements and UM&DPC and AHPC discipline related scope of practices, including quality control, health and safety, standard operating procedures, turnaround times and flow of testing. Ensures accreditation is maintained.
  • Performs pathology diagnostics, verifies, interprets and signs out test results and consult with referring doctors.
  • Oversees development, implementation of new tests. Provides input into evaluation, verifications and validations of new equipment and methods to ensure standardisation and continuous technological advancement.
  • Manages medical practitioner/pathologists staff and oversees levels of performance of these staff in the laboratory.

2) Depots (Where applicable)

  • Oversees quality standards and lean processes in accordance with the principles of Good Laboratory Practice, accreditation requirements and UM&DPC and AHPC discipline related scope of practices, including, health and safety, standard operating procedures and turn-around times.
  • Actively promotes Cerba Lancet Africa and the Cerba Lancet Africa brand through professional presentation and high levels of customer Service.

3) Customer Relationship Management.

  • Monitor and manage turnover by doctor, clinic, depot.
  • Tie-in top supporters through service level agreements and customer relationship Management.
  • Build strong customer relationships with: Doctor’s, Hospital staff, Infection Control, Pharmacies.

Qualifications & Experience

  • The post holder should preferably have at least 5 (FIVE) years relevant experience as a UM&PDC certified pathologist specialist, including managerial experience.
  • Masters of Medicine degree in Pathology or equivalent qualification from an institution recognized by the Uganda Medical and Dental Practitioners Council
  • Bachelor’s degree in Medicine and Surgery (MBChB.) or its equivalent qualification from an institution recognized by the Uganda Medical and Dental Practitioners Council
  • Registration with the Uganda Medical and Dental Practitioners Council
  • Valid practicing license in pathology from Uganda Medical and Dental Practitioners Council
